Well it happened, for the first time ever I had a DD refused today was charged and had it returned. I feel a bit numb actually as things seem to have taken a severe downward turn. All was going well with payments etc and everything was moving in the right direction. Then I was awaiting payment from 2 companies and the postal strike hit. I still haven't received my cheques from them, because of which not only have I gone over my OD limit but I've also incurred charges t hat mean when I do finally receive payment from them half of it will be lost in charges and I still won't have enough to pay for myself for the rest of the month. I don't have any credit cards etc to use as I closed it when things were going well so I really don't know what to do as I have access to no money at all until the end of the month. Food etc isn't a problem as I live at home but not knowing whether I have enough fuel to get to work tomorrow weighs hugely on my mind. What would anyone advise? I can't sell anything as we're in the process of moving house and we binned everything that wasn't needed months ago to make space for the move. I'm sure that if I can reach the end ofthe month things will be ok because of money coming in at that period as well as my salary, it's just getting to that point. I'm aware I posted something similar yesterday but I felt the post wasn't very clear so thought I'd make this new one to give it some clarity. The thing that makes me feel worst is that after trying for ages to get into the AQA, I failed my first review and if I don't pass the second one (result due on Thursday) I'm out of that without second thought as I failed on SPG. This I can only blame on myself as I accidentally turned off my grammar check but it doesn't stop me feeling absolutely low as a worm.

Could you talk to your bank again ( personal banker or the manager) and explain why you are OD? Ask about the bank charges too as of course lots of people are reclaiming theirs so maybe they shouldnt be charging you. As a fall back position to get you thru to the end of the month parents, friends maybe for a short term loan? sorry not to be more helpful. good luck0

This postal strike is a right pain.
What you need to do is exercise your first right of appropriation, so when you do put the cheques in the bank you have a say of where your money goes, copy this letter below and take it to your bank, they can not take any money when you do this, here goes.
First Right Of Appropriation
On --th October a cheque will be paid into account number
.
I am exercising my first right of appropriation over these funds which you to pay the following items from them.
*you now need to make a list of all the things you wish to be paid for the next month, I.E Rent £450
Phone bill £35
it may be a good idea to open up a basic bank account with another bank who you have no debts with get any money paid into that account then pay a small amount off your over draft that way you should be in more control.
Good Luck!!0
