remortgage-legal bit

so i will be remortgaging for the first time, i am looking into whether to use a broker or not, but the end of my fix isn't for quite a while, just getting my self prepared. Do you have to get a solicitor yourself? or if the legal fees are included do they sort out the solicotor?

Depends on the package you go for. When does your fixed rate finish?

  • I've remortgaged twice. The first time, the bank (RBS) instructed the solicitor, the second time we had to instruct our own (Nationwide). However, with the second one, we got £500 cashback after the first payment, so that covered the fees and then some :)

I would recommend contracting a broker now. You are within the 6 month window that a fair swathe of lenders can provide mortgage offers within, so you could get your remortgage lined up now
