Pay upon leaving job - have I been underpaid?

Hi all,
In search of a little advice.
I left my job at the end of December. I work all of December and used all holiday so none was to be deducted or added.
I was informed that payroll processing date was the 31st so leaving then would make everything simpler in terms of paying me. This was perfectly reasonable and meant I got a little bit of time cut off my notice (which should have been Jan 4th). However, I was not paid a full month salary (I am normally salaried, not paid per days worked), instead, I was paid days worked for the month, which amounted to less money than my normal salary. If i had continued to work into January however, I would have got a full December salary, apparently.
I'm having a little trouble figuring out why. Our payroll officers justification is that upon leaving you are only entitled to the days you worked (which seems fair if you work a portion of the month), but surely, if you are salaried and as I have worked a whole normal salary month, then it should be the standard rate?
The payroll team are notoriously terrible and have had difficulty with basic maths in the past, so I'm reluctant to take anything they say as gospel!

Typically yes it's like you say, but it shouldn't make any difference.
You have an hourly rate, which should amount to roughly the same as a monthly rate except in February. Certainly it should have no effect on December which is a 'full' month.1 -
Ask them to show you where your contract states the notice period is unpaid.0

When did you give your notice? What was your notice period? Did you, or your employer, state your leaving date in any correspondence?
I think I may know what's happened here, though......
Are you complaining that you weren't paid for your holiday time? (I assume the office was closed from 23rd onwards?) You have said you have used all holiday - if so, why would you expect to be paid for the Christmas holiday?
If you HADN'T used all your holiday, maybe because Christmas leave doesn't form part of 'holiday' (some companies treat BH and the period between Christmas and NY differently, strangely) then I agree with you - you should have been paid until at least 31st.
So either you had used all your holiday, or you hadn't, and they owe you holiday. Which is it? (And when does your leave year run? Maybe if you'd gone back today and worked until 4th you would have also had 1st as paid leave?)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0
