Help!!! Keep Putting Everything Off

I am so sick with worry just now. We are currently about £35,000 in debt and thats not including the mortgage.

In 2003 on my first day back at work after my honeymoon i got sacked, for stuff they had made up, but they had covered there backs so well that i couldn't do anything about it. I then started my own business doing domestic cleaning. As you can imagine doing this plus being un-employed for a time ate up our little savings very quickly.

I then fell pregnant at the end of 2003 and now have a lovely little boy. My business partner then left the business last November just after i had baby. I then had to start paying staff out of my hubbies wages as the debt on the business mounted. My husband then had to take a lower paid job with better career prospects and has now had 2 promotions, but not had any pay increases.

I have now seeked help from CCCS and they were great, they told us only to pay our 13 creidtors £1 a month. Now the creditors are saying that is not enough and they will continue to keep putting horrendous charges on our accounts. So i phoned CCCS and they said yes they probably would do this.

So now we are probably in a worse position.

Don't know what to do. I really can't handle the phone calls anymore, especially when there is someone visiting our house, i just keep ignoring the phone everytime it goes.

I am really sorry for babbling, but if i even get one peice of good advice i will be happy.

Thanks in advance.

now I am no expert on this sort of thing, but I am sure that I have read on these boards about getting interest and charges frozen and about people not being allowed to hassle you if you are with CCCS.

This is just emergency first aid, brooks402.....proper explanations will follow from people more qualified than me. I am just a softy who can't bear people to be unhappy and thought this way at least you wouldn't feel totally stranded!

    Hello Brooks 402

Help is hand, well done for posting here - thats the first step, there is a lot of help & advice at hand, firstly we need a bit more information. If i were you I would complete a SOA (Statement of Affairs), there is a link somewhere for one - this will include all of your outgoings, your incomings, and then information like your debt. List everything, if you owe arrears, exactly what you pay out each month/quarterley, and what you have coming in.

Once we can see this, we can give you better advise & have a better understanding of your situation. If you list the APR's against the debts, that way we can see which debt is "priority". Perhaps you could pay them £5 a month to keep them quiet for a bit longer, but if you dont have the money, you dont have the money - its as simple as that.

    Check out these links too:

I know what you mean about the phonecalls, its harrassment, perhaps you should send all of your creditors a letter stating that again, you have been speaking with the CCCS and due to your financial difficulty you can only offer a token payment of a £1, and if your circumstances change you will be in touch as soon as possible.

Check out the links above, post your SOA, and ask any questions that you might have - even if they do sound obvious. You are not alone and there are a lot of us in the same boat, you have come to the right place.

    Take care & good luck.

Hi 402- sorry to hear about your situation :(

I agree, if you have already told the CCS about your situation, these creditors should not be hassling you!

Could you not take a part-time job maybe?? Say babysitting, cleaning or something else to raise say a little cash? Sometimes you just have to suffer a little- but this time in say 6 months-things will look better.
We'll keep our fingers posted for you ;)
