Maybe now your DH has had to do the cleaning, he will reinstate the cleaning service. :rotfl: I love it that you stuck to your decision Not to clean :rotfl:

It is not my first battleWhen we just met, he did not like my dishwasher. It was a small microwave-sized one that sat on the sideboard; it was a bit fiddly to load, it had to be just-so, otherwise it would not clean properly; but if you did it correctly, it worked a treat. He did not have the patience to load it just-so, so wanted to get rid of it. I told him I was fine with that, but that I had bought it for a reason, and that I was not suddenly going to do the dishes again. We sold it, and he did the dishes by himself for 3 year; we now have a dishwasher again :rotfl:

Good for you, Siebrie! You clearly understand the principles of DH management.
Minimise:- Batteries - one in DH's nasal hair trimmer, two in the TV remote and two in the bedroom clock. I think the Battery Gremlin has taken up residence here.
Spent batteries waiting to go to recycling bin at sm.
- 6 Glass jars - one didn't even have a lid. Lids in recycling, jars waiting to go to bottle bank.
- Wool from stash - next winter's jumpers for DGSs.
- Ironing basket - empty (for now
)
Make do:- Using existing food stocks, as all this week's meals are coming from the freezer, fridge and cupboards.
Mend:- A fitted mattress cover - the elastic around the edges was escaping from the casing. Have had this for ??? years, it doesn't owe me anything, but there's still a lot of life in it so worth the sewing.
Be kind to others and to yourself too.0 - Batteries - one in DH's nasal hair trimmer, two in the TV remote and two in the bedroom clock. I think the Battery Gremlin has taken up residence here.

Hope you don't mind me suggesting that anyone re-using egg boxes may like to decontaminate them by microwaving them for 40/50 seconds. It's a tip I got from my mum. Eggs are packed 'dirty' and putting ready to eat items in them could be hazardous, even though the food itself is well wrapped. *tootles off back to Garden Fence thread*I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0

Have just cut out the canvas for my new sail cover. It's not the easiest to sew so I'm girding my loins for the battle lol!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -

Topher - i love your idea of giving your grandchildren a decorated egg box each with a little Easter 'selection' of things - what a lovely idea! And so much more personal and interesting than a 'normal' easter egg. I would have loved anything like that as a gift as a child (still would!) and your DIL is lucky to have in-laws who value time and effort over money. I'm lucky in that we only have one child to do easter stuff for (OH's niece) but have tried to keep it as economical (and low-chocolate) as possible by getting a large bag of small chocolate eggs from Lidl, some of which will go in a little crocheted 'handbag' i made a while ago for said niece, and some will come with us at the weekend to share with friends we are staying with. Two in one!
Make do - with very little spare time because of a very hectic work schedule the last couple of weeks, so meals have been mainly roasted veg (made two massive batches in the last 10 days) warmed up a serving at a time and shoved on a wrap with salad, hummus, avocado, mixed seed sprinkle etc. It's one of my favourite things to eat and once the roast veg are done it takes very little time to put together each subsequent meal. OH has also helped out and has made a few meals, plus has been happy doing his own food if he doesn't fancy roast veg yet again lol. So i've not had to worry too much about cooking for him which has taken the pressure off.
Mend - couple of clothing items ready to go on eb*y next week when hopefully i will have a little more time for photographing and listing.
Minimise - the single bed that was taking up all the space in my sewing/craft/stuff room has now been sold, yay! Not had much chance to do more sorting and organising in there but there is more space for when i do.
Have a great bank holiday weekend everyone0 -
Make do + minimise: (warning: TMI) my Mum (82) has finally decided she deserves proper incontinency pads, instead of making do with panty liners, and has donated the pantyliners to me. She also had a stash for any guests who were caught out, but most of their guests are beyond that age now, so she donated that stash to me, too. Thirdly, my Aunt moved from a 3-floor 5-bed house to a 1-bed apartment, and she had a similar stash! Which also got donated to me!
I prefer using tampons, but am now working my way through the stash, wearing panty liners / sanitary pads at home and tampons when out and about.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -

Morning all
Siebrie :rotfl: great make do and minimising
I'm currently out for a walk which will help minimise me and also help mend, I've felt quite low recently so hoping a walk in the sunshine does me some good. I've signed myself up for a 26 mile charity walk in June so it's also training for that.
Got some ys lemons at the supermarket on Friday so made lemon curd. Absolutely love hm lemon curd but generally don't make it unless I can get cheap lemons. Once I get home, I'm going to make scones to use up some out of date yoghurt.
Hope you're all having a good weekend and have some sunshine where you areMortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86
