in Cutting tax
Hi all
Im a bit confused. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Situation as below;
- Husband and wife work full time and have P60's
- Husband and wife have joint BTL property (started this BTL in June 2016 so falls in this tax year)
- Husband also runs a small limited company so has been completing SA every year.
- Wife has never registered for SA as there wasnt a need.
Queries;
1. Can the husband complete the SA (on behalf of both) even though the BTL is in joint names or does the wife need to register too for SA too?
2. If the wife has to register how can the rental income expenses etc be entered for both? 50-50?
Please help as its a bit confusing. Thank you in advance
Regards

If the property is owned 50:50 and you're legally married, the income/expenses need to be halved and half entered on each person's individual SA return.0

The wife has to register for SA.
Both will complete the property section of the SA.
The property income / expenses are assumed to be 50% for each unless specified elsewhere.0
