Does John Lewis ever do discount days or haggle?

I've seen an item in the home furniture range by John Lewis that I really love. But it's a bit out of my price range. I have a budget (Xmas present) of £450 for a bed, the bed I've seen is £600.
I was going to write it off as too expensive, but just in case there is a way around this; are there ever discount days or deals I can hang around for? Or do they ever haggle on own brand, brand new items like this?

There's 'haggling' and there's taking the !!!! and hoping for 25% off :rotfl:0 -
Partners get 25% off non electricals so they won't extend that to a customer.
Have you thought about visiting a John Lewis outlet centre, always plenty of beds/mattresses when I've been to Swindon.0 -

So solution for the OP is to find a 'Partner' and take advantage of the 25% off0 -

Which if you read the examples, most are people using price matching policies and nothing to do with haggling at all.0 -
If we're talking beds, they do discount their own-brand beds at this time of the year (their Vispring specials are particularly good value) and sometimes the prices drop towards the end of the sale period - particularly on the ones they're dropping.
I'd make them an offer (nothing lost) and although it probably won't be accepted you might get an idea whether the price will be dropping further. Keep an eye on it, and be ready to pounce!0 -
