Kids / Holiday suggestion?

Hi there,

I want to get a holiday booked for next year but i have no idea where to go....

I want to avoid the "british" hotspots - so Majorca etc are a no no

We've been to Turkey, Morocco and Disney also so these are again a no no

Has anyone got anywhere where the kids have LOVED it? doesn't necessarily need to be near a beach (but a water park nearby would be a hit...)

Kids are 11 and 6, have only ever flown for 4 hours at most, we arent restricted by school holidays (academy, we are allowed 1 week off a year) but needs to be under £2k

(not that im being picky or anything.... lol)

Thanks in advance

  • Greece has always been one of my favourite family holidays to go and you can normally bag quite a good bargain with it being a relatively cheap country similar to that of Turkey. You want to have a look at areas like Rhodes, Dodecanese and Corfu. They're great places for families and you'll find water parks, beaches, boat trips etc for everyone to enjoy.

Plus the weather is normally great, the food is a big plus and the Greek people love the British.

There’s Port Aventura and Ferrari Land on the Costa Daurada in Spain.

  • I did look at Greece but I couldn't find any cheapish deals, everywhere seemed expensive but maybe i am looking in the wrong place - I'll have another gander
  • Does this have to be abroad? Some fantastic places right here in the UK

Yes, complete with dire weather that always seems to coincide with the first day of school holidays ;) Although if OP can manage a week in late June she should be fine.

The kids would love a Eurocamp type holiday. Normally a mixed bag of nationalities.

As easy as it is to dismiss places like the Balearics as British hotspots it's perfectly easy to find very nice places that are quiet and local.

Just a car and a bit of imagination will set you free.

I'd personally recommend the Canaries for what you say you need. Tenerife and Gran Canaria would have everything for the kids and yet if you stayed somewhere slightly rural you'd not know you were in a "holiday hellhole". They have some of the most stunning scenery around and yet most people who go there won't drag themselves from the beach.
