I’m doing 4 pints of rice pudding in the slow cooker tomorrow - great as it can be served hot or cold. You can also put out various toppings - jam, cinnamon and fruit ( though I like mine plain).
Also got a chocolate panatone cheap which I am turning into a bread and butter pudding.

Could do mousse in a variety of dishes.
    traybake
    Fruit salad
Melon balls soaked in alcohol with some cocktail sticks nearby
Sliced up water melon and pineapple
Mini chocolate eclairs ( just use profiterole recipe).

Hope this gives you some ideas.

I did a selection of mini desserts on Christmas Eve which went down really well, I did buy most of them but they were plastic shot glasses with chocolate mousse, Panna cotta, macarons, mini cheese cakes, mini tarts, raspberry, and millionaires shortbread. And mini mince pies. I served these on a couple of big trays and scattered some fruits around, they went down well.

At buffets I always like to put the desserts into bowls ready to be easily taken, I always find people don't want to be the first.

Whatever you do I hope you have a great time.
  • I've done an ice cream bar - 2 or 3 flavours of icecream, chopped fruit, sweets and sauces or melt a few own brand mars bars with a splosh of cream and a can of squirty cream. Usually a big hit with adults and kids

  • Profiteroles always go down well
Chocolate fountain also - but have a disposable table covering to prevent the mess

I picked up a red velvet cake from marks reduced from £20 to £2 so that's my one and only dessert, served with cream/ice cream.

Plastic shot glasses filled with mousse and jellies are pretty easy and cheap and portable ( easy to eat standing ). Little tartlets with small bits of fruit on a drop of tinned custard covered in jello to set are easy ( you can buy the cases)

Tray bakes cut to fit sweet cases

I make giant profiteroles. I cannot be bothered slicing each one open to fill them with cream so instead I sandwich two of them together with cream in the middle as it is much easier :)
