If you don't have a date then you can't really do anything other than collect some options. Once you do know the date and the time then that will determine which option is best, but you might want to consider travelling down the day before and back the day after - although that means 2 nights in a hotel it would be less stressful. While googler's suggestion is a good one, you might also want to look at hotels in the Aldershot area as they may be cheaper than one in central London.
