Good for browing the internet, watching videos, music, and running standard office apps (e.g. Excel, Word, if you have them).
For games, it's a no-go, as it hasn't got a dedicated graphics card. If you're not bothered by this, it great otherwise.
It's very sexy and small (you can see it in PC world) Beautiful design. Of course you can't upgrade though - depends if that is important for you or not.
It comes with Vista which is a very power hungry system. Microsoft are releasing a patch early in the first Qtr next year (supposedly, but don't hold your breath with Microsoft dates). This may address some of the performance issues and bugs.
Hope that helps.0 -
I'm hoping this pc is ok as we've just bought one as a present for my son(a non gamer) I have found a good review for it. I'm no good at posting links but if you go to ciao.co.uk and type in acer l100 you will find the review near the photo of the pc by the orange stars. It is a long review.0

I bought this for my granddaughter, she's 16 and she seems very happy with it.I can't comment personally as I don't have a clue about computers.0

I like it, it's cute and wouldn't take up much room
I agree with Dave the Rave though, it wouldn't be adequate for gaming as it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card. The memory size and HDD capacity are great for £400 though.
The only downside for me personally would be that it comes with Vista installed (I refuse to budge from Windows XP!).
Good luck with your purchaseEveryday I am asked to be a magician, in a world where magic does not exist.0 -
I wouldn't touch Tesco for PC's!
Bought my son a Gateway laptop, he'd only had it three weeks and it packed up. Had a hell of a job getting my money back, had to refuse to leave in the end!
Went to PC World and bought a Toshiba instead!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

You can get the same PC from https://www.ebuyer.co.uk for £379.99 including next day delivery.
Though of course you will miss out on the 399 clubcard points.0 -
I forgot to mention, I would advise against getting a 'small form factor pc' , they are harder to work on (less space in the case) and replacement parts can also be more expensive and there is less choice.0

I bought one of these last January. It provided excellent service until the beginning of this month when it developed a fault on the motherboard. Acer were first class with their guarantee service. Collected, repaired and back in under a week. It would have been better if they had been able to save my data.....so my advice is backup!!!
I would guess that they manage to make it so small by using laptop components. It does tend to run a little hot but I have not found that the heat made it unstable. I cannot comment as to whether it was instrumental in the motherboard fault.
On the whole I would recommend it and would not be put off buying from Tesco.0 -
The same model from Ebuyer is actually £499.99. The cheaper model referred to buy bakerag has a Semperon 3500 processor rather than the Athlon 64 3800 fitted to this.0

It's really difficult now to find new PC with Windows XP as almost all now are with Vista - but usually there are no problems to scrap Vista and install XP ; have just done the thing for my friends on slightly more expensive L220 model (Intel C2D processor instead of AMD) - nice design, good performance for everyday use except gaming; the downside is that it is impossible to upgrade in future...ElegantlyWasted wrote: »I like it, it's cute and wouldn't take up much room
