Studio returns shipping scam

Options
I'm not sure if this is in the right thread.
I am wanting to know if anyone has had a bad experience with studio catalogue.
About five year ago we purchased an item from studio that was wrong so we attempted to return or replace it after five attempts at this we ended up with three items to return which we did however studio claim to have only received two and subsequently charged us for the third along with all the interest that had built up while the fiasco had gone one. This added to the premium rate phone calls resulted us being out of pocket by around £100.
fast forward five years and a new found passion for christmas lights I foolishly took a chance on the company that I had vowed never to use again and ordered a reindeer and sleigh set. When it arrived it looked like the glitter bombshells that my daughter was bringing home from nursery and not suitable for outdoor use not to mention broken so once again the attempt was made to return it. I am now currently arguing with management because low and behold they never received the item which they would now like payment for.
Has this or similar happened to anyone else and where do we go with the legal side of things as it can not be a coincidence that the exact same scenario would happen five years apart and I believe it is fraudulent activity committed by this company.

most returns policies suggest you use a suitable, tracked method of shipping to return items if they don't provide pre paid reruns, so the key question is did you do this and what does the tracking say? At the very least I assume you obtained proof of postage via the Royal Maili if you shipped with them, in which case after a period of time you should be able to claim for the value of the item lost up to the amount you declared on the proof of postage.

I've bought from Studio quite a few times and always found them pretty helpful. I've had items get lost and delays with postage and always found CS helpful, usually offering compensation for any issues.
