I see there are several challenges on the forum!!
I think I should do one as part of my new year's resolutions! I'm already tracking my monthly spending on a spreadsheet
Was having a bit of a Google and have seen things like the save a penny a day and double it every day ones....
Have you done a challenge that's done been great for you? What would old stylers recommend?

Katieowl, sorry haven't done any challenges but wonder what spreadsheet you use?
I did ask on another thread and someone suggested type budget planner into play store. Don't know what play store is or if I have it on my laptop.
Maybe just have to stick to pen and paper and add it up once a month
ThanksIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
I'm just using Excell on my laptop. It's been a long time since I used one properly and it's a learning curve trying to figure it out LOL. It's only very simple. As I did December's one, I realised I needed more headings so have created an improved one for Jan, but I think it will be a work in progress!0

Thank you I'll have a look.
I remember once looking at setting up a spreadsheet and getting completely confused ( that doesn't take much)If you walk at night no-one will see you cry.0 -
BTW Play store is a Google thing. If you don't have it as an 'ap' you can just access it by searching play store on your browser. Then search spread sheet or whatever and download the programme you want, but not all of the things on there are free, so you'll need to check that!0

I save £2 coins up in a £ shop tin that you need a tin opener to open and save silver below 50p in a old coffee jar and 1&2p in a glass jar.
I do survarys on one poll it’s slow but ok and I use top cash back when spending onlineLiving the simple life0 -

You save 1p on 1 Jan, 2p on 2 Jan, 4p on 3 Jan ....
At the end of week 1 you have saved £1.27.
At the end of week 2 you have saved £163.83
By 31 January you've saved £21 million.0 -
I've just joined up with the save 12k a year ( but only doing 6) over on the savings and investment board, I did the penny challenge for two years when we were paying off our debt, a pound a week was to rich for me at the time the £600 odd quid was very handy for little effort, I found it easier to work it in reverse £3.65 £3.64 £3.63 and so on.
Im on the longer challenge now to get rid of the mortgage I find I get overwhelmed with the bigger figures so only concern myself with 1% at a time, saving £1200 at a time is doable where 120K is laughable on my wage.
I think I have to have a goal to keep me motivated I really struggled halfway through paying off our debts when the budget was working and I was just a passenger it was just so boring, having little challenges kept me me occupied and on task.
Good luck0 -

:rotfl::T:j. Well that would certainly help the coffers
I read it properly now, it's 1p, 2p, 3p etc it's supposed to add to over £600 in the year, and some people start it backwards, so the bigger chunks are at the beginning of the year not Xmas!0 -

I've been doing a shopping survey for years! I scan my weekly shops and download it to them at the end of the week. I like to think of my YS shops bamboozling their system
There are a variety of rewards, but I usually opt for Amazon vouchers, which mainly feeds my book habit.
I don't do much online shopping, will look again at cash back0
