can a DCA sell on a debt if its in dispute

hi
can some one help me to answer this for me as i can not find out , i keep geting phone calls from a dca (this is a new one) i have had calls and letters from RED,LOWELL BOTH THE SAME COMPANY ,RUTHBRIDGE LTD AND NOW A NEW ONE UCS , i have sent lowell and ruthbridge letters asking for the to send me the proof that i owe the debts 4-3 months ago but thay have not sent it , no surprise there ,so it looks like one of the dac has sold the debt on but can thay do this

They can, but the odds are it will go straight back as soon as the DCA realises it's being disputed...0
