Nhs continuous service maternity

Hi,
I worked for nhs for 3 years up until August this year when i handed my notice in and left for another position..im now returning in January.
Was wondering if anyone knew If I keep my continuous service or if my 4/5 month break has stopped this now?
Also what happens with maternity pay...you have to have 12 months continuous service therefore will i have to work 12 months again before being entitled?

I used to work in the NHS many years ago and I believe than a break of less then 3 months counts as continuous service.0

Sorry, but both these answers are wrong. And there isn't a simple answer. Reckonable service (what counts as NHS service for contractual benefits) is complex. It depends upon why you left and who to work for, and, in some cases, is subject to discretion of managers. So nobody could answer that question. You will need to ask your union. Or your new manager. But you might want to be careful as to how you ask, because the way you put it here could be interpreted as having returned only for generous maternity leave provisions.0
