Had relations over from England last week and I did the unofficial tour guide. The best meal of the week for value and super food was lunch at Ramore's. We got so much for £5, we weren't fit for a big dinner in the evening in Bangor. Ava, Bryansburn, Black Boat and Esplanade all provided excellent evening meals too, as did the Valley Hotel, Fivemiletown.

I have also had good food in the Ramore in Portrush. I heard it was owned by the same people who own The Exchange in Derry, which is pure !!!!!! IMHO.

I am heading up that direction tomorrow and will maybe try Ramores (normally we would go to 55North or Comfort Inn).

On your list for Bangor I am surprised to see Black Boat in there ... we tried it and were very disappointed, but thinking it may have been a bad night we did give it a second go and were equally disappointed. Thought the food was bland and a bit over cooked (on one occasion dried up .. sent it back .. but the replacement was not much better).

Must try the Esplanade again .. it has been about 10 years since we were last there.

I would avoid The Stables in Groomsport - i think it has went downhill over the last 6 years.

Beware the club sandwich at Ramore's.
£4.95 and enough to feed an army. Very tasty, fresh ingredients. Top marks.

Another good lunch place is The Craftshop in The Butter Market, Enniskillen.
Very popular so get there early.
