MicroUSB that doesn't break

Am I the only one with huge problem with microusb plugs? They seem to have to small hooks at their botton surface which get loose/deformed so the plug moves with the slightest disturbance and the phone doesn't charge. Is there a solution for this? I seem to need 1 new cable every 2 months and it is very frustrating.

I never have this problem - must be your handling of them. Try being gentler!
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Are you using pound shop cables or something more substantial?

Try an Anker one from amazon, I found they fit solidly and last well I got faster charge with them as well.

Never really had an issue except 1 I had bought the soldered wire inside the plug wasn't soldered on correctly, maybe I was too heavy handed with it but it's the first 1 that's failed.

I think it can be very hit and miss quality wise for these leads. i have a poundland lead that gets used daily for over a year. I have also have OEM leads fail in a few weeks.

Buy a really good quality one and be careful how you handle it; or accept that you are the sort of person who only has to look at something for it to break, in which case get in a supply of ultra-cheap ones.
  • Sounds like you're either buying crappy cables or you're manhandling them somehow.

I've had USB cables die before but never had any problems with the socket itself.

I bought a pack of 'anker' branded ones which are excellent.

The 'hooks' are springs, I believe. To push the contacts closely together.

Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning
