U.K./Irish passport name change question

Hi,
I am divorced and wish to revert to my maiden name.
I can do this easily at banks, work, dvla with my divorce papers and birth certificate.
My query arises regarding my passports.
I have a uk passport with 3 years left on it in my married name. For financial reasons I will not renew this until it runs out.
I am about to apply for an Irish passport for my daughter as hers runs out this year. I am applying for one myself at the same time.
Can I apply for mine in my maiden name? Will there be a problem with still having my U.K. Passport in my married name therefore having 2 passports each with a different surname?
Thanks for any advice you can offer on this.

It might get a bit tricky if you use your British passport as id when everything else is in your maiden name. Also make sure to book travel tickets in the name of the passport you will be using as apparently they are checked against each other at check in. Probably it might be best to shove your British passport to the back of a drawer and stick to using your new Irish one.0

It will be fine, I have a friend that has one in her maiden name, and got one in her married name too and never had a problem.0
