Rejoining LGPS

I have been in the LGPS pension for 4 years. When I first joined I had to work for at least 2 years for the pension benefits to accrue. If I leave my current job then in a few years get another job with a LGPS pension do I have to wait another 2 years or will benefits simply be added to my existing pension??

Your new record may or may not be added to your old record - depends on your salaries/gap in service/rules at the time.

However, if they aren't combined, then your previous service would be shown on your new record as 'unaggregated service'. U service doesn't give you any actual pension benefits, nor does it count towards any Rule of 85 protections (not applicable in your case) but does count towards the 2 years minimum service criteria.
