36K debt - Operation debt-bust!

  • Ok so today I had to pay £178.50 for an apartment rental for Dec. I have booked through booking.com which said pay nothing now to secure the dates. Then the owner contacted me asking me to transfer the amount specified to secure those dates which has meant Im in the overdraft! Not particularly happy about it but Iv got some cash to pay into the bank which will clear the overdraft. On the plus point my business is busy at the minute which has meant some additional money for the debt busting pot! :-)

  • So spent money today on home improvements - some carpets etc which badly need replaced. Its gone on a cc which Im going to pay off hopefully within a couple of months. Its not ideal I know :-( Im looking at new ways of budgeting and saving however Im not one for fancy spreadsheets and ynab - it needs to be simple but effective. Looking forward still even with this minor hiccup!

  • Good luck with your journey. I paid off the last of our debt in August last year, it took 4 years but it's gone. I overpaid on everything even if it was only a few pounds, it was so satisfying to see the balance reduce.
