Overpaid student loan when Self Employed

Hi
Just reading about getting a refund for overpayments made to the Student Loan and my situation is slightly different as I've been self-employed since I left Uni and I did at one time start regular payments despite never earning over the threshold to require payments be made.
Can I still make a claim for a refund or is this classed as a voluntary overpayments?
Thanks
