  • I agree about the internet cost - this can be reduced, if you don't need fibre optic connection. Plusnet do very competitive deals on broadband, from as cheap as £3 per month - that would save you £15 pm, £180 per year.
Also consider changing your Bank Account to one that pays you - Halifax will give you £3 per month for an account with £750 going through it - that's an extra £36 per year.
Use e-bay, Gumtree, Shpock - sell everything you don't need i.e. unwanted Christmas presents, clothes no longer worn.
If your place of work is out in the sticks, ask on the bulletin board about Car Pool/Car share. If someone else is driving out there from your town, great, you can share the cost. Even if someone can't drive you all the way, it may be possible to drive a shorter distance i.e. to main road, park, and then join colleague for rest of journey. It will all save money!
And I would like to say: really well done to YOU, for facing up to this before it becomes a real problem. Wish you the very best, and hoping you keep both your home, and your car.

The first thing that shouts out to me is that you salary/pay is very very low. Is that full time or part time?

The costs of getting to this low paid employment are totally out of proportion to what you earn.

If I were in your shoes, the first thing I'd do is to try to find a job closer to home where you can grab a bus, walk or cycle to it. Even if it doesn't pay much more than currently, you will not need a car and will have all that extra money to hand.

A better paid job closer to your flat is something to consider immediately IMV.

Apart from that, the budget is very tight.

I hope things work out for you.
  • Definitely worth looking into having a water meter fitted if you can. I did this some years ago and my bill went from £30 per month to £10 per month and I'm careful with the water I use so my bill is low.

Also agree with getting a second job if you can. I've recently signed up with a local agency and do jobs for them at the weekends which can be anything from office cleaning/weekend reception jobs to helping at events/traffic management in the area.

I agree that working closer to home/ changing jobs is a priority.

I also think its well worth checking out the up your income forum board as loads of ideas for earning on there- including things lke swagbucks to earn vouchers, cashback sites and apps survey sites and many many more.

Also agree that a big declutter and selling on ebay, facebook an shpock is a great idea.
