Pro rata pay advice needed!

I am currently on a term time only contract and recently had a day off sick. The deduction from my wages was based on the fte not the pro rata pay is this right? My employer has not been very helpful as when I queried this and gave an example of 'if I have a month off I would not have earnt enough to cover the deductions' the response was 'correct, you would owe us and this would be deducted from your next months pay'!
I'm really struggling with this one!!!

If they've divided the FTE salary by the full time days it will work out the same amount as dividing the pro-rata salary by the pro-rata days.0

the issue arises if you are paid the pro-rata pay over 12 months.
FTE /12 = 1 months pay
PTE(say 39/52)/12 is less than 1 months pay.
Just make sure they have the holiday calculations correct.
eg. if you do work say 39 weeks then you should get paid a minimum of 43.7 weeks. more if the full time gets more than 5.6 weeks holiday.0
