  • Hi,
Sorry to bring this up again!

I woke up this morning and it was quite sore again, washed with warm salty water - checked the mirror and the clot had fell out completely! Within ten minutes it was reclotting and looks like it is ok now, is this fairly normal?!

Sounds normal enough. Obviously - I can't see it.

As I said, that dressing only helps a bit. Soreness is quite likely until it's completely healed.

See the dentist again if you're greatly concerned.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
  • Hi

Im popping back into the Dentist later this afternoon just incase; Im more bothered that Im on holiday next week, otherwise I would probably have just seen how it went.

To be fair I probably panicked a bit this morning when I saw a huge hole!

It is a bit sore but not enough to take painkillers, just a dull ache.

I don't think it's going to go away in a few hours, it'll likely take a few days, it's not helped by the anxiety that you've got Christmas to deal with (and longer closing hours over the few days) in possible pain if it isn't healing as it should but in a way, it's that anxiety which is likely to be making it feel more intense. If it helps, ask your Dentist about emergency services and if you would be applicable, because mine has listed emergency NHS dental service opening hours over Christmas- not their surgery but apparently run by the NHS in the area and they appear to be open every day aside from Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

I had a dry socket when I had a wisdom out. Went back to the dentist who packed the hole with some stuff that tasted like cloves. But it did the job.

Mine took at least a week to heal, it wasn't long in comparison to the pain and irritation I had prior to the tooth being removed and the repeated infections that resulted in the tooth being removed, but it did take at least a week and the results were not immediate. You can go see your Dentist but be aware they are might just tell you to give it time- that wouldn't be because they are being off-hand, it could be because you'd need to give it time. Have you tried phoning up the Dental surgery and asking their opinion?
  • Hi

Yeah I nipped in last night, they said its healing ok and will be fine - man up basically!
