Hi all,
I went BR at the end of October and had my phone interview. I was told I would be sent some new budget forms in December as I filled my original ones out wrong (didn't include my partners income).
I have not heard anything yet!
What should I do to prepare myself? I'm not sure if my tax code has been set to nil yet or if anything has been set up re my tax so I'm assuming if I have a nil tax code, I should put the tax money aside when I get paid as this is likely to be claimed back at some point.
I've not yet had to show the OR any statements, payslips or anything like that I've literally just had the interview, no IVA has been set up yet but I am still waiting on the forms for that so I can show the OR my budget. I'm still paying my Council Tax as the liability would fall to my husband but where we have not done our budget yet nothing has been changed.
I'm also getting a £500 (to be taxed if not nil tax code yet) bonus from work - Is this something I need to let the OR know about? I'm going to keep it to one side anyway just in case.
I feel a bit in limbo at the moment and not sure what to expect. I keep seeing stories of people being chased for Council Tax arrears or HMRC tax arrears and I really don't want that to happen to me but have no info whatsoever at the moment about what is likely to happen to tax etc.
I'm also still getting letters and phone calls from creditors re defaulting, shouldn't they have been made aware by now that I'm BR (I believed it was down to the OR to tell them?). Only my main bank who I also had a credit card with has acknowledged my BR and froze my accounts.
Thanks in advance for any help, I feel so confused by it all xxx

Yes, this is sensible.

Again, this is the sensible thing to do for now. In the event that any emergencies arise which require you to use these funds, keep relevant receipts/paperwork.

Only my main bank who I also had a credit card with has acknowledged my BR and froze my accounts. Some creditors may still have obligations under the Consumer Credit Act to send you certain notices at this stage. However the phone calls should have stopped by now, and you should ignore/report any further instances to the OR as appropriate.

your husband will be liable for the council tax now, so as long as you are still paying it then they are getting paid, so dont worry about that
with regards to your creditors, put a copy of your bankruptcy order into the prepayment envelope that comes with the debt letters and send it off. Your OR would of told your creditors but sometimes the info wont get to all the departments, hence why you still receive letters
As its so close to xmas there could be a back log of mail in the postal service so if you hear nothing this week then give them a call about the forms after xmas

Thank you both so much for your help!
I will defo give them a call after Xmas if I don't hear anything as I just want to get the ball rolling with everything and not live in limbo as to whether I will be paying in to an IVA or what happens with tax etc.
Thanks again
