Is there anyone here that would be interested in a professional ironing service in Nottingham. I have years of experience having worked in a dry cleaners and launderette previously however I am now looking to start my own ironing business from home.
I provide a fast, professional service with clothes either folded or hung in poly roll wrapping as requested for only £3 per kg.
I offer free collection and delivery with text confirmation of price and delivery time.
If this is something you might be interested in then please feel free to message me.0 -

My good lady is thinking of starting an ironing service in a semi rural sort of area. The area in question has a high percentage of tourist accommodation as well as a more stable client base. There is,according to figures, about a 12,000 population within a 10 mile radius. The question is,has anyone been involved in this sort of business and if so what population/how many chimney pots would be needed to make it a viable proposition.
Ok, so nearly 12 months on and a progress report,of sorts.
Officially started april 6th and after buying a vacuum heated board and steam boiler, and all the parafinalia, posting leaflets and cards in shops and notice boards,Yell.com etc etc not much happened. All the figures added up but still nothing. Then I got talking to the owner of the local golf club and shortly after that, another potential client. They both asked if I could do the whole nine yards.....wash,dry,iron,fold and in some cases itemised in sets. We realised we had missed something and there was only one well established firm in the area. The feedback we got about this firm was not good,I suppose they could afford to be complacent. We quickly changed tack and bought a new washing machine with 30 minute wash and high speed spin,a cheapish tumble dryer and a Blanca press. There was a large gap in the market for servicing B&Bs,hotels, holiday parks etc etc which we had totally overlooked. We now have 2 washing machines,2 tumble dryers and 2 Blanca presses and have just converted the garage into a sort of micro laundry and collect and deliver 2 days a week in general. We have just sold the original iron and board,it was hardly used and are looking at a rotary iron. We did however shoot ourselves in the foot again....we did a mailshot to 400 businesses within a 20 miles radius which produced good results but no real orders.I had inadvertently rushed a pricing structure to a good client and then used that as the basis not realising that my prices were far to high.Too high to even tempt the unsatisfied customers from the other firm. That was quickly addressed and things are doing OK0 -
Hi I already do ironing but one of my customers has asked me to do her washing as well. How did I charge? At the moment I charge per hr but surly I can't charge for the time its in the washing machine and dryer can I? Or is it best just to charge per weight?
Would love to hear how other people charge.
Thank you0 -
hi i am in desperate need of advice,
I am a single mother at home with my two young children, I am looking to do an ironing/cleaning/dog walking service, to do around the hours that they are at nursery.
Is there anything I need to do or put in place before starting this or is it just as easy as advertising?0 -

Factors to consider :
Time taken loading/unloading washing machine (and tumble dryer if applicable).
Electricity and water cost.
Wear and tear on wm and td.
Cost of detergent/conditioner.
The above costs may seem insignificant for a single wash, but if this is one wash a week, then that's 50 a year.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0
