Re: Coathangers
When I am passing I pop into Matalan and buy a low priced item, unless I see something I really want, and if its a quiet day and you get a nice assistant, they will always oblige and give you what ever you need (coathangers) foc. I haven't dared go in without buying anything though. But most of my customers supply their own, I just keep a few in case I need the odd one or I have forgotten to tell new customers to supply their own. I have got so used to customers supplying their own that sometimes I forget to tell the new ones.
I charge £2 per kg although I am thinking I am too cheap, sometimes I have the odd customer who drops off and collects and doesn't make the minimum 5kg but as I dont have to go out to collect or deliver I dont worry too much about charging them the minimum and just charge per the kg they have brough round.
Thanks, I have been tempted to ask but I'm a chicken, will try and pluck up the courage next time
I charge £3 per kilo and one customer has told me I'm too cheap at that so think your customers are getting a bargain at £2 a kilo! I sometimes don't bother with my regulars with the minimum charge, one customer only took me half an hour once and I felt guilty charging her £15 so just charged her £10!!0 -
I have friends who work in New Look, Select and Miss Selfridge.
All of them try every which way to get rid of the dreaded coat hangers.
They're cumbersome and take up so much space.
They have a box in front of the shop often if they can't get rid other ways.
They would all be mightily grateful if someone came in and asked for some I'm sure.0 -

Great, thanks - next time I buy something in there I'll ask!! :T0 -
I bought some hangers on line but when they ran out I plucked up courage to ask. M&S said no which was a bit awkward but then I went into 'internacional' ladies clothes shop and they gave me loads. The worst thing that can happen is that they say no.
Been luckier since as I found that an out of town shopping centre nearish me has a stand outside where the shops put hangers for people to take! I've got loads now which is good as some people don't return enough hangers so its good to have some spares.
I'd definitely not but any more now. Also the ones that I bought were cheap and not really big enough.

Hi.
I'm thinking about becoming an ironing agent, but don't know much about how this sort of thing works. Can anyone tell me how and how much ironing agents are paid? Also, does anyone know of many companies that hire agents? I've only seen one so far.0 -
Is it a bit like a secret agent?

Evening all!
I've spent hours reading through this thread! I've just set up an ironing service after spending an obscene amount of money on a super-duper steam generator, and deciding it needs to earn it's keep
I've been designing some posters to put up in local shops etc, and I've just created a website (which I'm incredibly proud of :rotfl:). I've already had some interest amongst my iron-hating friends, so here's hoping it's a success!0 -

Good Luck Maisy_Daisy, have you tried making an A4 poster with just your company name and telephone number on and laminating it to sticking on your car window. Make it bright and easy to read so you get some free advertising when out and about. Also it is easy to remove if you use white tack.0 -
Ooops I have just realised you could be in competition with me. I am in West Suffolk.0
