Hi Lewt

My Mum wanted to do an ironing service.0

I have a small alterations shop and we offer an ironing service. We charge 65p per item (no bedding) and today I ironed a bag with 67 items in (43.55) and it took just over two hours. Most were ladies and gents easy to iron t'shirts but the lady is a regular so she's happy with the cost. :T0

Hello, i apologise if what im about to say has already been covered but, i am thinking about putting an advert in a local shop, newspaper etc for an ironing service. Nothing too much just some to earn me a couple of extra quid on the side. Does anyone have any advice for me and also do i have to pay tax and NI on earnings?
Any help would be greatly appreciatedProud to be Dealing with my Debts

hi shopaholic
yes you do have to pay tax and NI on your earnings, go to the hmrc website, find the starting up in business pages and theres loads of great info there.
you have to register as self employed within 3 months or you could face a £100 fine. its pretty straight forward and the goverment even runs free day courses on tax and being self employed. you don't have to be an accountant, you just have to keep accurate records!
pm me if you need any more information, ive just registered myself
hope this helps and good luck with your new venture! What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -

Hi, this may be of interest to someone in the Darlington/North Yorkshire are, although I am not sure if I am allowed to do this, but I am selling my Fiat Scudo van, which I have used in my ironing business. It is set up with the rails and everything on it already, and is signwritten etc if anyone is interested you can pm me.
