Last minute decision

I have two great-nieces and a great- nephew that I have yet to buy for, aged 2, 4 and 6. Last year I spent quite a bit and posted them at considerable expense. Am not inclined to do the same again. I did not get a thank you for six months. (I would nt mind a text or email. It doesn't have to be a letter or card.)

We have no plans to meet up. I wouldn't mind driving over to see them but do not know which days they are seeing other relatives. We are not close. I am not inviting them here as my house is too small to cope with three young children and their parents.
So what lightweight items can I get to post at the last minute? Or do I just pop a cheque in the post? Any suggestions, please?

That's blaming the children for the parents' lack of manners.

TBH, from the way you write about these relatives you don't seem particularly keen on them so why are you even bothering with a gift anyway?

    Erm.... I wouldn't be bothering!
It sounds as though you don't know them that well anyway.

What about a charity gift? Sponsorship of a puppy at Canine Partners includes a soft toy for them and money spent training a dog for a disabled person- £60. This way they have a token gift but the money does good....

Of course there are other schemes just as worthy.....

  • if you really do want to by them a gift get it off somewhere like Amazon whereby you can have the gift sent to them direct and can also mark it as gift wrapped at no extra cost.

Other thing you can do is send them some money/cheque and let the parent either put it in a bank account or use towards getting the child something they need

Picture books are fairly light-weight and are probably around £6 each. If you want to spend a little more, you could put a fiver/tenner inside the front cover. As they're all quite little, you could buy 3 books by the same author to make a little set.

This is what I think I might do. Thanks.
I don't see them often as they are a busy family, both parents work. Yes, of course I agree it is not the children's fault they have not been brought up to say thank you.
For their birthdays I send a card each, but rather than individual presents I send one lot of money to go towards a family treat, which is appreciated. The family do give to me, but it might be In 5 months time.

Do you know or Google a local soft play area you can get a voucher or gift card sent to them.
