Tax allowances for voluntary work??

I do rather a lot of voluntary activity in my spare time, i'm a fully signed up assistant scout leader and I also coach at our local swimming club (as well as officiating at numerous swimming events throughout the year)
Just wondering if there are any tax allowances that I may be able to claim, for example uniform/kit/mileage etc??
I'm not being greedy, I don't expect either organisation to contribute, just if I don't ask I may be missing out

Nothing, expenses could only be set off against income that they were incurred against and as there is no income then no deduction.0

Fair enough, thanks0

Are you sure the organisations concerned wouldn't contribute?
I work for a major charity as a volunteer, and would be able to claim 15p a mile for petrol (I choose not to, but only because I only live about 3 miles from where I work). Their stance is that none of their volunteers should be disadvantaged by volunteering.
No-one would think any the worse of you for asking, or for claiming if you were able to - in fact they would far rather you did that than have to give up because it's costing you too much. It's got nothing to do with being greedy - your time is worth much more to them than your mileage etc is likely to come to!!No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0
