The IWIWIW forum is, I reckon, a lovely place where people can share what they've won- which not only let's posters know they've helped people but can encourage others when they hit a bit of a dry spell.

But what are your views when someone seems to be winning a lot? I've had a run of good luck this month and I'm almost embarrassed now to post again, coz I don't want to seem like I'm bragging or annoying anyone in a win-drought.

But then... I like reading about people's lucky streaks coz it gives me hope that it can honestly happen to normal compers on MSE.

So what do you reckon?

Lately I tend to just PM the poster of the comp.

I love reading about lucky streaks especially when I am having a bit of a dry time. I have even copied and posted some as my motivation board. Keep it up and good luck to everyone

It's what we're all here for. It's not bragging, it's saying, "Guys, it's works!"

I am not bragging but if people think i am then i will stop posting in IWIWIW, I post because it gives people hope and shows that comping has a hobby works. I also like to post photos of all my prizes. This month i have won 17 prizes and my sig is now full. If your reading this and have not won, Please do not give up, Keep at it!

I quite often look at IWIWIW and think "I wish I had a bit of Makeandsave"s luck :D

It's up to each person what they do, and I have no issue with any of the options.

I'm a bit like you OP and go through fits and starts with posting versus PMing. My luck seems to be fairly good and fairly consistent (thanks comping fairy) and I usually win a number of small prizes most months which I don't post in IWIWIW, although I usually post bigger wins or items I'm most pleased with. With big wins I sort of feel the OP of the comp deserves a public thanks rather than a low key PM but I'm quite a private person and I'd be mortified if people thought I was bragging so I'm careful not to overdo it.

My ideal would be to post on the original comping post, so everyone can see exactly what the competition was, but no one seems to do this. I don't want to start an IWIWIW thread for my own wins, so I tend not to post at all, not that I win that much these days!

If it's in 'game over' then it's pointless as I wouldn't think too many people look in there. If the thread still active then the comping police will be all over you like a rash dishing out a virtual tongue lashing for bumping a thread needlessly!

I'm having a bit of a dry spell at the moment but I still enjoy hearing that others are winning. I think all of us that have been doing this for a while understand that if we just keep plodding on through the dry spells we'll eventually hit a lucky streak again.

I think that if I can't win something myself the next best thing is hearing that someone else on here has won it.

Congrats on your lucky streak and keep on posting those wins, it gives us all hope that they are still possible:)
