  • Try checking your ABB (Power One) guarantee. Mine is definitely for 10 years. They replaced FOC. Compensated me for loss of FIT and paid about £100 to installer.Well worth giving them a ring on 08000232341. I found them very helpful.

I had a new inverter fitted a month ago (the original broke after 5+1/4 years, 3 months after warrenty expired!)
Local firm did it- £550 . I have 8 panels , so a smaller system
Then I paid an extra £70 with the UK importers (online) to have an extended warrenty- think that's now 20 years!!
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

    Hi mandragorin
Have you checked the display for any error messages, as this could help with identifying the root cause.
and may help in finding the bit or part required. On sma inverters they tell you in there manual that after a while the ceramic caps go and need to be renewed.
    so maybe worth a try.
As others have already stated way way over the odds.
    regards

  • Thanks Everyone.

I rang ABB and the inverter is out of warranty!
One of the guys who came to have a look at the inverter did something to get it to work but said it was only temporary and that we should get it replaced; so it's working at the moment.
