Like the 5p on carriers is it time to do the same with Christmas wrapping paper
Even in our house with just two adults can fill a bin bag with the stuff on Christmas Day
Would it not be better to have reusable gift bags so next year send your gifts out in the bags you received this year or am I just a Grinch

Can you not put the paper in the recycling box ? We can, its kust the shiny wrapping paper you can't put in. I agree with what your saying though.0

Papers is easily recycled.
I dont know why tv has an issue with wrapping paper. The paper isnt the issue. Its me ordering from toys' r us, two of the exact same item, roughly the same size as a shoe box through the same checkout payment to then recieve the items 2 days apart in boxes i struggled to get through the front door, the product was in its original packaging, then placed in a plastic bag, then had air filled plastic filling the rest of the box (about 70%). I could understand if they where sending fine bone china but it was a kids toy. A wooden kids toy at that after i decided it would be nicer for the environment if i didnt get a plastic one!!
Its like the water companies telling me to put a brick in my toilet so i cant flush my turds whilst whilst quite literally allowing million upon million of treated water to gush out of leaks theyre aware of but cant be bothered fixing.
Ermhh, i can see a brick being put in some void, i doubt it will be my (Eu regulated, non turd flushing) cistern though!0 -
Our council has advised due to mixed materials used, that all seasonal wrapping should be binned rather than put in the recycling bin!
I'm not guilty 'though as I collect all the paper where I stay and give it to a friend to cut up (and reuse / upcycle ! ) for a toddler group.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I wrap in tissue paper (the pretty coloured stuff is cheap enough) and put into gift bags. The tissue goes in the recycling sack and the gift bags are saved and re-used next year (by the recipient or they give them back to me and I re-use !).0

Our water company send people around looking for leaks, they discovered one under our driveway. It was after the meter, so we'd been paying for it all, but they investigated due to unusually high water use and fixed it for us. So, that's pretty cool.
As for wrapping paper, I've tended to just save and reuse decorative or coloured paper I find. Some of it is gift wrap from other presents, or a coloured paper bag I can cut up, also old left over wallpaper. I can't remember the last time I bought wrapping paper, so it doesn't matter when it's thrown out, I can always find another bit of decorative paper.0 -
Reading this thread transported me back 60 years in a instant, cos as we unwrapped our presents (carefully), mum "recycled" the paper to send back for Father Christmas for next year..
I still hate the way we all rip of the paper and bin it without a second thought, and give a little thought back to my parents.
I don't mind admitting there is a little tear in my eye now as I type this..No.79 save £12k in 2020. Total end May £11610

In my opinion if you have guts to wrap in a decent and accurate way, you can wrap with any paper, tissue or wrapping paper. I recently have packed some of Christmas gifts for my daughter and they just simply look amazing. I bought an airplane toy holding the shirt of Santa and wrapped in plain paper Sprinkle some glitter with glue over it and it's ready to gift. I have taken these amazing ideas from DIY Christmas crafts that have shared on REEcoupons website. Check this out you will surely have some new ideas and will surely love them.0

We have always reused our xmas wrapping paper year after year till it no longer usable.
been a running joke on how old is the oldest xmas paper we have. ( 30 years )
the shiny paper is the easiest to reuse as the sticky tape just pull of.Jane x0
