Christmas cake recipe dating from 1970s/80s

Many moons ago I had a wonderful Christmas cake recipe taken from one of the supermarket magazines (?Living?) produced in the 1970s or 1980s. It involved soaking the dried fruit in half a pint of sherry for about a week and the results were wonderful!

Does anyone by any chance have a link to the recipe, or something very similar, please? For once Google hasn't done the trick for me...

I appreciate there are masses of recipes on the net, all claiming to be the best ever Christmas cake, but there's no substitute for personal recommendation - ideally the recipe in question, just in case someone else remembers/still has it.

Many thanks if you can help either with this recipe or a tried and trusted personal favourite.

Tried and tested, personal favourite, has never let me down - I'vw been busy these past few weeks so my lovely husband had made them too - absolutely perfect!

Jane Asher's Last Minute Christmas Cake recipe - you heat the alcohol and mix the fruit in, leave to soak overnight, which I think is the secret. If you have time you can 'feed' it with extra alcohol too - we have used port and sherry in the past - but it doesn't matter if you haven't got time.

    Enjoy!
