Did my old mortgage have ppi?

Hi. My wife and I took out a Yorkshire Building Society mortgage in joint names in 1986. It has long since been payed off (by remortgage) but I was wondering if PPI was sold back then and, if so, might we have been sold a PPI policy.

1986 was near the start of PPI. Not common at that point but theoretically possible.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
