You should also make sure that the adviser will allow transfer even if the advice is to not transfer it. Some will only transfer it if the advice is positive.

He needs to check whether the receiving scheme he has in mind will accept the transfer, whether or not the adviser gives a positive recommendation.

And it might be as well to get the DWP decision in writing?
  • The DWP won't put it in writing I already asked :(

You need to choose how you want to receive the advice which will bring up firms and a side menu where you can input details of what you require.

Hi Xylaphone ... On the sidebar which option do I need to check. I can't find one for DB Pensions .... sorry, I'm being a noodle :(

In post 6 above you can see the qualifications required to deal with pension transfers from DB Schemes.

The link in post 9 shows the MAS glossary of terms.

You click on how you want to receive the advice and then on "transferring a current or previous pension" in the side bar.

Then you can scroll down and fill in the information required at "I would like an adviser with the following accreditations/qualifications".
  • You have already received some great feedback but can I add that even after you find an IFA that can do this for you it does not mean that they will!! They should review your circumstances and then provide you advice. What you think is the best thing for you might not be the same as the advice you receive. After you locate your new adviser it might be worth asking if they will proceed on an insistent client basis.
