Police records etc

37 years ago ( yes really) I was wrongly arrested for being drunk and disorderly having been caught up in a football crowd and finding myself chucked in a Police Van. I received the summons via post where I was invited to plead guilty and accept a fine of around £30 (from memory) - I pleaded not guilty, went to the Court and the case was quicky thown out.

Can I be sure that this incident will not be on a police record somewhere? I thought I read that even minor convivtions, let alone aquittals, were deleted prior to 2007 after 10 years or so under EU law.

The police may have it on their record, but just as a record of arrest, which has no bearing on anything
  • As above, why would you object to there being records showing that the case was thrown out of court? I'd have thought you'd be pleased they kept a record of that.

Why are you concerned, even if it is?

No employer would be allowed to take something like that in to consideration after 37 years....
  • I also have a police record, its 'walking on the moon', its never held me back

In my last job we had to carry out DBS checks on all new recruits. It not only showed if they were barred from working with kids or vulnerable adults but showed convictions. I remember seeing convictions over 25 years old still show up. However you were not convicted of anything, just arrested and arrests on their own don't show.
