Both parties are just as guilty as both knew the rules but ignored them. Obviously the money side is important to the company but if it was me I would be more worried that I could not trust either parties and would be looking at getting rid of both, if they are bending that rule what other rules are they bending that I am unaware off.0

How were you originally told about the maximum number of items that could be bought? Was it in a written form such as contract of employment or verbally from a manger?
Is it visibly displayed in the shop?
Has this overbuying happened once or many times.0 -
Bearing in mind 50% of the workforce were buying too many. They would have to get rid of everyone wouldn't they?
It's very interesting getting different points of view0 -

The official 2 bag limit was in writing, the staff shop employees told us 4 bags (verbally). There is nothing in my contract about the staff shop, it's just a perk.
Only a few times did I buy more than 4 bags. I was remiss and complacement and I'm very sorry. I Would certainly have put them back if asked, as mentioned it was only for family to save them money.0 -

They can choose when to enforce and when not to
So they could keep Bob, Joe and Craig and sack you.
Or keep you and sack Joe. Or whatever0 -

Two wrongs do not make a right. T
They might not have evidence of others doing wrong. It is often the case that one person gets punished for what others also do but they are the unlucky one to get caught and they can use that as a warning to others.0 -
