Success, Wonga Refund

Options
Total of 22 loans over 14 months. Made complaint with Wonga who ignored both letters I sent despite them being signed for post.

Went to FO who wrote to them, they still ignored them but eventually replied. FO sided with me and had all 22 loans wiped off credit files and a refund of £623!

Now trying the same with Provident and the doorstep loans I took with them.

  • So did they make you take the loans out at gunpoint?

I wouldn’t crow too much, because you’ll get no congratulations from me. They should never have given you that many loans, but you had to apply for them, they weren’t forced upon you.
I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.
  • I think they missed a trick and should have brought in compulsory bankruptcy, alongside pay out's. Imagine lending to people who have had this data well and truly wiped as that's really all it enables oh dear, oh dear.

Last 6 months of a true 6 year sentence being served here - my celebration will be setting light to the old payday loan correspondence. I was told in the first year of taking out payday loans I'd eventually see an insolvencer

Because my situation was SO bad

Over last four years it has been 6 loans from the payday lenders so as you can see a trashed credit file does sometimes become the plus.

So another year or so and you'll be posting on the bankruptcy board then? Somehow I doubt you've learned anything from all of this.

Ignore the bitterness I'm pleased for you.

Just be careful if this opens up your credit availability again though and remember what debt does. I trashed my report and spent 7 years living credit-free, teaches you it can be done and you're not likely to want to return.
  • Wow so many judgemental people on here. For the record the loans were taken when I was mentally ill and undiagnosed with Bipolar and were back in 2011 /2012.

As for bankruptcy, your comments fall on deaf ears... Yesterday marked 16 years since I declared myself bankrupt... And since my last payday loans in 2012, never touched a payday lender before. Have a pretty decent credit rating with two prime 0% CC and zero debts!

Like others have said you took out the loans and spent the money so to come on here and boast about getting them refunded will fall on deaf ears.

You say you were mentally ill, I am sorry to hear that but you were to bad that it stopped you apply and spending the money.

All I can say look at this as a lesson, if you can afford it don't get it..

Please be nice to all MoneySavers. That’s the forum motto. Remember, the prime aim is to help provide info and resources. If you don’t like someone, their situation, their question or feel they’re intruding on ‘your board’ then please bite the bullet and think of the bigger issue. A Guardian article once "doffed its cap" to this forum as being the one place where consumers can collect together and fight back. Our job is to help keep it that way.

Pay day loan reclaiming is a legitimate action to take, some may not agree with it, that's their choice, usually they are the ones who remain unaffected by such things.

You don't know a persons personal circumstances, so please don't judge them, and obey the forum rules, for those who are unaware, they can be found here :

I guess we can say the same about all those people claiming back PPI, to make a fast buck.

There will always be some people just to judgemental for these forums. It forms part of the reason I've lurked for years... I think I'll go back to lurking!
