WEM query

Hello all you lovely people,

Just wondering, is a WEM obvious? I obviously receive alot of spam style emails that I have to sign up to so how careful do I need to be when deleting them?

Thanks in anticipation!

  • I just received my first WEM and it was fairly obvious but i have got into the routine of deleting all the spam i have first thing in the morning so i'm lucky i didn't delete it automatically. The title was just the title of the competition but the first few words that i could read before clicking into it was quite a human "congratulations" so that's the only reason i clicked into it.
I think you'll notice if it's a genuine WEM. Good luck!

Main think to look out for is who the email is from, "generally" it'll be from a person as opposed to a company and the subject is usually pretty obvious

I remember someone saying a while back that they'd found a WEM message hidden in what appeared to be an ordinary newsletter-type email, which got me hunting through each and every one just in case for a day or two before I realised life's too short! They usually include the words "congratulations" or "winner" or "You've won" in the title and usually come from an actual named person as opposed to just the name of a company.
If they deliberately make it not obvious then they don't really want a winner- in which case they shouldn't be running comps in the first place!
  • I check them all now, because a couple of years back I very nearly dismissed & deleted what I thought was just a newsletter from sky store because the subject line just said "Sky Store"
I only decided to check it just in case there was a new competition to enter and I'm glad I did because I'd won an ipad bundle in a daily competition they'd been running the previous month! If I hadn't replied in 7 days they'd have picked someone else.
  • I check all, Most do come from a named person and the subject is obvious but there's the few that are hidden meaning you just have to check.
  • If you can order your email by size set it from small to large, wems tend to be small as a rule of thumb but I'm afraid you really do need to look at each email however briefly. I've had wems that looked like anything but.
  • Thank you all for replies. I guess I'll scan read the long list of emails I get haha. Ever hopeful! Good luck to.you all x
