Is it Illegal for Unauthorised Staff to Open Job Candidates Applications?
Comments

I should have said “sales assistant” (she wasn’t management)and?, and the vacancy I applied for is above hers and?, so there’s no need for her to open it You think this, but you have no idea. Maybe in the absence of someone 'above her' (the vacancy you're applying for) her manager has asked her to. You have NO idea. When I have been a sales assistant in the past, when a person hands me an envelope for the manager, it means it’s for THE MANAGER! so what?? you old job means nothing If you’re an assistant to a manager and have been given responsibility for dealing with CVs etc, then okay, but it was very unlikely that this sales assistant was. you dont know this!

“Why would it be illegal? Who has decided she is unauthorised?” Are you serious? So it’s okay for my CV with a lot of my personal information on (enough to use in a criminal manner and cause a threat to me), to someone who isn’t contracted to do so AND in an open public retail environment? Have you heard of confidentiality?
“...hardly anywhere works with paper cvs these days.”, apart from the ones who do, which is still a lot.0 -

What can I use in a crime from your CV?
You dont KNOW what shes contracted to do. If youre so concerned, send it via post to head office. You are the one who left it in a 'open public retail environment'0 -

"More senior than a sales assistant MJRWORKS mistakenly named as terror suspect in application fraud horror!"0 -
Reading some of these replies, I really do pity modern society and humanity. Some naive, immature and inferiority complex cases going on. Thanks for your time and jumping down my throat. I won’t be reading or wasting my time by using this forum for any further advice.
Edit: My status as a newbie on this forum, doesn’t reflect my actual knowledge and age of maturity. It’s apparent that some people here seem to be arrogant of their virtual status and lack of reality.0 -

I won't be reading either, I am too busy organising the crime of the century using peoples names and GCSE results from 1999!0 -
if you do get an interview make sure you bring this up as it is clearly going to be a factor that needs clarifying should you still want to work there.0

The majority of the responses are to point out your assumptions about the person to whom you handed your CV. You know absolutely nothing about what they had or had not been tasked with doing. For all you know the 'sales assistant' could be in charge of their HR function. Your high-handed view of your comparative importance doesn't help.0 -
