My smallest debt has been sold to Cabot about 4 months ago but still managed by Akinnika. I'm chancing my arm and offering a settlement in the hope they may have yearly targets to meet!

Anyway, the latest letter states I can call them direct but any written correspondence should go to Akinika. Who surely will have to pass to Cabot for a decision?!

Re reading their letter, it says date assigned March....this would be when they actually bought the debt and waited till Sep to let me know?

Sorry mods, wrong board. Could someone move it to main section please

  • What is your question Zenshi? Sorry if I missed it but I would say any decision on full and final will probably be have to be made by Cabot if they own the debt still. Date assigned would be the date they bought it I would imagine but someone more experienced than me might know better.

    Sorry I was rambling.

I guess my question was....as I can only contact Cabot by phone....should I call to discuss then follow up with a letter to the agents dealing

Having fished out all my paperwork I have now found and address directly for Cabot

So moral is...read and re read thoroughly before posting daft threads :rotfl:

    Hi Zenshi,

All correspondence regarding full and final offers should be made to the debts owner in writing using the national debtline template letter.

Debts are sold in hugh batches (1000`s at a time) and it can take a while to get around to your particular account, that would be the reason for the delay, they may also search your credit file and do other checks to get an idea of your ability to repay it, before contacting you.
