Big companies like Boots, Lloyds etc can get virtually any drug, given 24 hours.

I was prescribed a rare drug that neither my GP nor the Boots pharmacist had even heard of but Boots had it ready next day. (It didn't work).

Depends on the medication. It always takes at least 2 weeks and often more for any pharmacy I have used to get my daughter' epilespy recovery meds in. I live in central London and have tried both big chains like Boots and small independents.

It does seem quite random. I had a second degree burn a few months ago and was prescribed a topical treatment. None of the main pharmacies in town (including both a small and a large Boots) had it and all said it would take at least 2 days for them to get hold of it. So in desperation I tried a small local pharmacy. They were able to order it that morning to arrive by 4pm the same day. Completely bizarre.
