Well done on tackling your debt and gambling problems. It must have been such a relief when your found out the meeting at the Halifax wasn't actually for you. How careless of them to contact you in error though.
Your gambling again well done for being gambling free for a week. May not sound much to most people but I know what a biggie that is. To overcome the urge to gamble you'll have to find something else that you enjoy to fill in the time you used to spend gambling. As you are going to have cut down the amount of time you were spending socialising with friends you really do have to find an alternative way to fill your time. My own situation is very similar to yours and this is what I found very difficult. Gamblers Anonymous say the same thing. This isn't meant as a lecture I'm just trying to point out what becomes difficult once all the debt is on track again and life can become rather boring. For me I now read a lot watch films via Now TV (had to cancel Sky) and do online competitions.
The positives of not gambling are huge. As well as the obvious one of not throwing money away, I go to bed at a reasonable time, sleep better, eat better rather than living on fast food so I had more time to gamble. There is a general feeling of calm and life is so much brighter again. You too will achieve this as long as you can be strong. You can do it and I'm rooting for you0 -

Thanks for the kind words it nice to know I'm not alone at the moment I'm just panicking a lot about all of the unknowns... what if I loose my job.... what if interest rates go up... etc. loosing my job would mean I'm homeless as I rent from my brother and he cant afford to pay my share as well as well as his (cant claim housing benefit for that as live with family) and it would mean I'm bankrupt (if I'm aloud to do this).
I need a full year in work sticking to my budgets with no issues occurring just to get down to 20.5k debt. there's been a few sleepless nights I can tell you.0
