When one starts a new job does the employer register the employees address with hmrc?

Theoretically but in my experience this does not always happen.

I've changed my address direct with HMRC over the phone before. I assume this can also be done online through the 'personal tax account'? (I have not tried this)

Does the personal tax account show your existing address as currently recorded? I have never used the service is it easy to use need to register?

Registration should be pretty simple with NI Number and Goverment Gateway Account.

I got given the government gateway account years ago with my driving license. If you haven't got one or have lost the details I think they may send the reset details by post?

I don't know what other payroll services do, but when I register a new employee with our payroll provider there is a box to tick for HMRC address notification. which I tick!
