The contract says you can't take another job without their consent - so ask for their consent. Why make it difficult? Yes, probably they would never find out - unless something gets posted on social media, or someone from your old work is married to someone from your new work, or you're spotted going in to work, or in your work clothes or... or... or...

Having said that, there's no reason why you can't spend the time researching future jobs, brushing up on appropriate training, doing all those jobs around the house that you never normally have time for - you certainly don't have to sit around twiddling your thumbs.
