Tax in the Falkland Islands.

If you want low taxation become a resident. £15000 allowance per person. 21% on next £12000 and the rest at %26. No higher rate. No capital gains. No inheritance tax. The only down side is our only bank offers just %.5 interest but all interest from the bank is tax free.To gain money, is bring your multi millions with you and negotiate a preferential rate which will then be tax free. If you bank outside of the Falklands then Government tax you on the interest. What a way to help savers.

There's not a lot else to do down there. There maybe a knees up at the Upland Goose if your lucky, or if your a visitor you could make fun of the Stills.

Only because there is nothing to spend it on. Is there still only one small supermarket run by FIC on the seafront in Stanley?
  • Seems to be a lot of losers on this thread.

And the earning potential compared with mainland UK is what exactly ?

I'd rather pay 40% of my (substantial) salary than 26% of nothing

    Baa ;)

    No I don't.

I have a life that involves spending some time on the internet and most time not making pointless posts to provoke a reaction. The tax I pay goes towards providing the infrastructure I enjoy (National Opera for example) and supporting those less "fortunate" than me, to whom I do not begrudge the support I provide, for example, paying towards stationing the armed forces on their island to prevent another invasion.

I also don't feel the need to post on a website connected with the "homeland" because I have nothing else to do.
I am a UK citizen that has been a Falkland Island resident for 40 years. Anybody know a UK bank that I can open an account with. Can then start saving.
so we can assume that the nirvana in which OP lives does not include provision of somewhere to save his £1m. Presumably therefore it is buried in a hole in "the camp" and he visits it regularly as the highlight of his entertaining life
