You aren't entitled to be demoted - the employer can totally ignore the request for lighter duties, but even if they don't, it's temporary only. Your job is your job. If you can't do it, then there is only one option split two ways - resign or be dismissed. The employer can choose to agree - but they don't have to.
"Work related" is meaningless. Your GP is taking your word for it - this is not an objective opinion, so it counts for nothing better than a one-sided opinion. Sorry, but that's the fact here.
Truthfully - it's fair enough. You may be fit for work, you were offered the chance to discuss that and you refused. So it was your choice to be absent from work. You didn't give the employer the chance to explore whether you were fit or whether they could make adjustments. If you want to obtain another fit note that says you are unfit, provided sick pay isn't discretionary, you should get sick pay. From that point onwards. But at that stage you are possibly starting the prices towards having no job at all. Is that what you want? Otherwise - talk to them.0 -
