HAve you ever got ill from it djbd1973?

    No.

Because my Dad, who was not a doctor but is a master chef, and one of the best in the country until he retired, taught me not to reheat rice and EXPLAINED why to me from an early age. I am mindful about what I cook myself, and where I eat out too.

What I was responding to was a post that was talking about using already cooked rice 'a few days later'. Your overnight rice you talked about was not reheated as you said cold. There is a difference. Ask a hygiene officer about the dangers of rice a few days old.

I don't eat takeaways, as I can quite easily knock something up myself just as quick and cheaper, which neatly gets back to the original post.

Anything can give you food poisoning if not re-heated properly.

My husband often use to take veggies and left over rice from the night before for lunch and nuke it really well at work and never had any problems.

You can even buy rice in a bag from the freezer to be re-heated.

If you handle food properly and cook and re-heat properly you should have no problems.

I would love to know the stats on food poisoning arising from rice.

My boyf has always overestimated the amount of rice and always reheated it - I didn't realise this for months. He, his dad, nor me have ever been ill, though I would never save and reheat it myself.

Thats very true, but when I phoned environental health about the hotel where my oh had eaten they said it was the most common form of food poisoning they come across in restaurants/hotels. I'd never heard of it before though.
