    Hi Tony and welcome,

Give them a call as they should have a decision by now.

One thing with Northern Rock that I've noticed with other posters here (although I've never been with them myself, so check this board out for yourself to confirm) is that Northern Rock seem quite heavy handed when insisting on Payment Protection Insurance.

If you want this, then fine, but do make sure that you are aware of what you are signing up to before you agree to it. The PPI that they offer seems very expensive and is often added to the loan, so I think that you even pay interest on it. There have been several posts where members have not been able to cancel this insurance without stiff penalties.

I'm just advising, so at least you're going in with your eyes open :D

Sorry you didn't get a loan Tony. I had no trouble, money was in my account in a few days, and I didn't take out PPI. (Might be because I've got a mortgage with em tho!)

hmmm i have a loan with them, they also sent me someone elses personal info ( that persons application form).

if i was a bad person i could have done some terrible things to that person, i had everything needed to get credit cards, loans and pretty much everything to financially kill her.

northern rock werent interested when i phoned and told them they had sent me her details, they just told me to destroy them.

i posted them to the correct person with a letter, not even a thank you from her. charming.

I had a similar thing from abbey - they sent my bank deatails n statement to my dad

I rang them and they were horrified - and I got some compensation too for the hassel.

just send the whole thing to the banking ombudsman - and let them sort it out.
mention you have read on here that it happens to other ppl as it could really get somone in a mess.

I have just applied and got accepted for a loan of £4500 with Northern Rock. When applying the rate was 6.9% and figures were quoted, i didn't want insurance. I got the acceptance email, but the rate is now 8.9% why ? Yet the only reason I applied to them was because Nationwide are fart ar**ing around, even though I was accepted for £4000, they declined £4500 and they accept that's a mistake because there own system tells them I can borrow upto £14500, yet they have to get the underwriters to sort it out (so far 3 weeks wait)

The rate Nationwide the quoted of 6.7% is the one they say i've been accepted on.

What happens with Northern Rock is they advertise that rate if you have 100% perfect credit rating and step up to a higher rate if you dont,,, when i applied it was 5.7% and i was offered 6.7% Strange i know...

Good thing about Northern Rock is if you ring up for a balance of the account ( settlement figure ) they automatically post you a letter out stating how much you owe - like a free balance statement :)

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.
  • Hi,
    :D
My first post - hope I'm not repeating anyone's info!

I used the link from this site and recieved no response after 3 days, called them at Northern Rock and they had not been contacted either - this may be down to my impatience - but the internet is supposed to be faster than the post man.

Used their link which was considerably better - infact so fast it took about 10 seconds to decline my application - which has surprised me because I have never in my whole life (since age 18) - thats 17 years been declined for a loan.

I called them up and they were unable to tell me.
I checked with Experian for £2.00 and my credit rating is spotless.

I assume I must have either filled the web form in wrong or some other anomoly.

I am now obliged to tell every other company that I apply for a loan with that I have been rejected by a company in the past! Looks like I will just have to use 0% balance transfer credit cards - hopefully I can get a Northern Rock one.
    :D
Is it normal to be charged an additional £45 to simply put the cash in your account?
